Checklist card for Etsy links: the yourshopname.etsy.com format, redirects after a rename, Share & Save refunds, the QR code rule and listing links.

Your Etsy shop already has a short link: yourshopname.etsy.com. Etsy documents it, it works once your shop is open, and old links keep working if you rename the shop. For sharing your shop, that is usually all you need.

Listing links are the long ones. A URL shortener helps with three jobs. It keeps QR codes small, gives each channel its own click count, and lets you repoint a printed link.

Short answer: Your shop's best link is Etsy's own: yourshopname.etsy.com. Share it unshortened on your social pages, website and emails, where Etsy's Share & Save program can refund fees. Shorten long listing links, and use an editable short link for QR codes, print and per-channel click counts.

What is my Etsy shop link?

Your shop link is your shop name plus Etsy's address, in two forms: yourshopname.etsy.com and www.etsy.com/shop/yourshopname. Etsy says both work only once your shop is open. The first is the format Etsy's Share & Save program tracks, so it's the one to print, post and say out loud.

Your shop name sets the link, so Etsy's naming rules matter. Names run 4 to 20 characters, with no spaces, special characters or profanity, and no name already in use. Capitals help separate words, as in YourShopName.etsy.com, and a capitals-only change doesn't count as a name change.

Capitals are safe to print: under the DNS standard, RFC 4343, domain names ignore case, so lowercase typing still works.

After your shop opens, you can rename it up to 5 times in your shop settings; after that, Etsy Support must approve. Old links are covered: "Links to your previous shop name will automatically redirect to your new one." Your old name stays reserved too, so no other seller can grab it.

If you own a web domain, Etsy says your domain provider can redirect it to your shop, with no Etsy Plus or Pattern needed. If you use Share & Save, Etsy suggests forwarding it to the yourshopname.etsy.com format. Its program terms also bar buying domains that contain Etsy trademarks.

How do you copy an Etsy listing link?

Copy it from Etsy's Share option, which is how Etsy's help pages tell you to get listing links, including Share & Save ones. On Etsy.com it starts in Shop Manager, as below. The Etsy Seller app has the same Share listing option for each listing.

  1. Open Shop Manager and go to Listings.
  2. Select the gear icon under the listing.
  3. Choose Share, then pick a platform or copy the link.

Prefer to post from Etsy itself? The Social Media tool in Shop Manager can share listings to accounts such as Facebook, Instagram and X.

Etsy builds a listing's web address from the title you enter when you first publish it. Edit the title later and the address stays the same. For a big change, Etsy suggests creating a new listing, which comes with its own address.

Etsy also documents two other links. A shop section link ends in section_id= plus the section's number; in the Seller app, tap Listings, the section, then the link icon. A search from your shop's Search Items bar gives a link ending in search_query= plus your keyword.

If a link you copy carries extra text after a question mark, Etsy's help pages on sharing don't explain it. They also don't say whether Share & Save credit depends on it. So don't trim links by hand: shorten the whole link instead.

Should you shorten a Share & Save link?

Usually not, because Etsy doesn't say whether a shortened link keeps the refund. Share & Save refunds 4% of an eligible order when a buyer clicks your link and buys within 30 days. Where that refund applies, share the link exactly as Etsy gives it.

To join, go to Shop Manager, then Marketing, select Share & Save, then Join now. Your trackable shop link then appears in Shop Manager and on the Share & Save page. For the 2026 holidays, Etsy's promo terms raise the refund to 6.5% from 20 October 2026 to 4 January 2027 for qualifying sellers.

Links count on your "Authorized Channels": your own social media pages, websites, blogs and emails, plus any channel Etsy approves. Etsy says links sent through Etsy Messages or placed in listing descriptions won't count.

If a buyer's last visit before ordering came from an Etsy Offsite Ad, the order earns no Share & Save refund. An Offsite Ads fee can apply instead. It's 15% of the attributed order, or 12% once a shop reaches $10,000 in sales in a 365-day period, capped at $100 an order.

Etsy's Share & Save help page and terms don't mention URL shorteners. The help page's only forwarding advice is for custom domains, covered above. Separately, the paid search rules in the terms ban bidding on Etsy trademarks and sending traffic through automatic redirects on a website page.

If you still want a short Share & Save link, point it at the exact link Etsy gave you. Then compare the short link's click count with the clicks Etsy shows under Traffic from your Share & Save links in Stats.

Can you put a QR code in an Etsy order?

Yes, as long as it leads to Etsy. Etsy's Off-Platform Transactions Policy, updated 5 October 2026, says: "We don't allow using a QR code to direct members off Etsy." So point an insert's QR code at your Etsy shop or a listing, not your own website.

The same policy bans telling members to buy through an off-platform destination such as a personal website, and offering off-platform discounts or cheaper shipping. It doesn't name inserts or business cards; its QR rule covers any code that sends members off Etsy.

Etsy's Seller Policy adds that you may not add Etsy members to your email or physical mailing list without their consent.

Print isn't among the Share & Save channels the terms name, either. Don't count on a fee refund from a printed code; count its scans with a short link instead.

When does a short link beat Etsy's own link?

When the link goes on paper, when you want each channel counted separately, or when the destination may change. Etsy's shop link already covers the basics: it's short, works with Share & Save and survives a rename. A short link earns its place where Etsy's tools stop.

QR codes for print: DENSO WAVE's QR code reference says more data needs more modules and a larger symbol. So a short link makes a simpler code than a long listing link, which matters at business-card size.

Click counts by channel: Etsy Stats files typed URLs, bookmarks and links in emails, messages and other websites under Direct & other traffic. Its glossary doesn't mention QR codes. Etsy's help describes Share & Save stats as totals: clicks, orders, revenue and money saved.

A separate short link for each insert, card and sign gives each one its own count. Etsy still wins on money, though: its stats show orders and revenue, while a short link only tracks clicks.

One link you can repoint: a listing keeps the address it got when first published. Deleted listings can't be recovered, buyers can't buy a deactivated listing, and a sold-out listing can't sell again until you renew it.

With an editable short link, codes already in customers' hands can point at the replacement listing or your shop instead.

FattyURL is one option. You don't need an account to shorten a link, but links made without one expire after 30 days without a click. So sign in for anything printed.

A free account adds links that never expire, editable destinations, custom endings of 6 to 100 characters, and click analytics. Free links may show ads; links on a paid plan never do. If that rules it out for your packaging, compare our roundup of the best free URL shorteners.

Which Etsy link should go on business cards, packaging and Instagram?

Use Etsy's own links where Share & Save can refund fees: your social pages, website, blog and emails. Use short links where you need a QR code, a separate count or a changeable destination. The table sums up Etsy's rules and our pick for each place.

How do you shorten an Etsy link and make a QR code for it?

Copy the link from Etsy, shorten it in an account that lets you edit links, then make the QR code from the short link. Test it before you print. The printed code then carries a short address you control, so you can count scans and change the destination later.

  1. Copy your shop link (yourshopname.etsy.com) or a listing link from Share.
  2. Sign in to a free FattyURL account, paste the full link and create the short link. A custom ending such as spring-fair helps you tell your links apart.
  3. Make the QR code from the short link and download it as PNG or SVG. FattyURL codes come in any colors, with no watermark.
  4. Scan a test print with a phone before you print the full run.
  5. When the listing sells out or the fair ends, edit the short link's destination. Printed codes follow, and each scan still counts as a click.

FAQ

Does Etsy have its own link shortener?

Not one that its help pages offer sellers. Etsy uses etsy.me short links on some of its own pages, such as its Seller Handbook. But the help pages on shop links, sharing and Share & Save describe none. The shortest shop link Etsy documents is yourshopname.etsy.com, which rarely needs shortening. For long listing links, use a URL shortener that lets you edit the destination later.

Do short links to an Etsy shop expire?

That depends on the shortener. On FattyURL, links made without an account expire after 30 days without a click, while links on a free account never expire. Etsy says its own shop links only work once your shop is open.

Can I put a Share & Save link in a listing description or Etsy Messages?

Don't. Etsy says links sent through Etsy Messages or placed in listing descriptions won't count toward Share & Save. Its terms also say program links may not be shared on Etsy's own platforms, including its mobile apps.

Can I connect Google Analytics to my Etsy shop?

Yes. In Shop Manager, go to Settings, Options, Web Analytics, and enter your Google ID tag (G-XXXXXXXXXX) in the Web Property ID field. Etsy warns that data can take up to 24 hours to appear.
